The Wihan Quartet had standing ovations during a recent concert tour in the USA, and we are delighted to welcome this outstanding Czech quartet to open our 42nd Festival.  They are playing music by Haydn and Mozart, together with the “American Quartet” by Dvorak, the most famous composer of their native country.  This concert will sell out, so book your tickets now!

Roderick Williams is one of the UK’s most successful baritones. His exciting programme ranges from Schumann to Rachmaninov, and concludes with Ravel’s Don Quixote songs.

Susie Allan will be known to many, as she lives locally while maintaining a career of teaching and performing at the highest level.

Janet Spotswood and Mark Smith (clarinet and piano)

The versatility of the clarinet will be shown to its fullest extent in this concert, using many different sizes of instrument.  Janet and Mark are both experienced soloists and teachers in London, and as a husband and wife team have performed together extensively, particularly for Music in Hospitals for whom they have appeared on BBC radio. An excellent tea will be served after the concert.

Freddie Mercury Tribute Evening

Queen” recordings are classics now.  They are part of history, like Beethoven and The Beatles.   Tony Grant recreates the style, the excitement, the arrogance, the energy and the mystery of the original Freddie Mercury who created this phenomenon.  He is a very experienced “Queen” performer who has appeared throughout the world and has even appeared by Royal Appointment.   Bring the family and share with them this milestone in musical development.

Mustang in the Himalayas

An illustrated adventure talk given by Tony Caldwell. The trip which Tony will be describing is to the Kingdom of Mustang in the Himalayas, until 1992 completely closed to visitors, but now opened to very limited numbers each year.
