Timothy’s playing amazed and enchanted 2015 Festival audiences when, at just a few hours notice, he joined saxophonist Huw Wiggin on stage. As a multiple first-prize winner with a busy international schedule, we are delighted Timothy is returning to give a solo piano recital in this Festival. His concert will include works by Bach, Scarlatti, Faure and Schumann.
Graduating with a first class honours degree in music from King’s College, London in 2006 before entering the Royal Academy of Music, he gained the DipRAM award for an outstanding recital. He held the Shinn Fellowship at RAM for 2008-09 studying under Julius Drake and Patsy Toh and is much sought after as a chamber musician.
Timothy was awarded both the Pianist Prize and Jean Meikle Duo Prize with the baritone Jonathan McGovern at the Wigmore Hall Song Competition in September 2011. Further prizes include the Acccompanists’ Prize at the Maureen Lehane Vocal Awards, the Parnell Award for an Accompanist at the ROSL Annual Music Competition, the Gerald Moore Award and the MBF Accompanist Prize at the Kathleen Ferrier Competition. As a Samling Scholar, Timothy has performed at the Wigmore Hall and The Sage, Gateshead.
Past engagements have taken him to the Edinburgh Fringe, Washington and New York with the trumpeter Alison Balsom; Singapore, and most recently to the Mozart Konzerthaus in Vienna. Timothy performed at the inaugural Domingo Festival in Seville performing with the sopranos Micaela Oeste and Angel Blue.
Timothy was a member of Alchemy with the saxophonist Samuel Corkin and the duo performed regularly on the Live Music Now scheme. He was also a member of the Park Lane Young Artists group performing with the trumpeter Huw Morgan at the Purcell Room. The duo regularly performed throughout the UK for Making Music. Timothy has also performed on In Tune on BBC Radio 3 with the bassoonist Karen Geoghegan and Marta Fontanals-Simmons.
